Cheryl Petersen
Cheryl studied Graphic Design at Monash University in 1998 as a mature-age student, majoring in Illustration. Following her studies, she established a career as both a freelance illustrator and jewellery designer. Cheryl’s painting practice is intuitive and deeply connected to mood and emotion. She allows each work to evolve naturally, resisting the urge to over-control the process and instead embracing spontaneity and instinct “Mostly I paint to my moods; they are the foundation of my inspiration. My best work seems to happen naturally when I am completely absorbed in the moment. While I believe technical ability is important, it is equally important to create freely, originally and from the heart.”
