Burra Jurra #II (Seashore)

Melissa Ladkin and Nickolla Clark are both local Indigenous contemporary artists living in the Byron Shire on proud Bundjalung land. Collaborating here for The Bangalow Film Festival to bring you – "gannu". Collaborating together for the first time, Melissa a proud descendant of the Awabakal / Wonnarua / Bundjalung peoples has been caring for country most of her life joins Nickolla Clark a young Arakwal woman of the Bundjalung nation from Byron Bay, through her work life and art practice is deeply connected to her grandmother’s country. Both artists depict learnings from their elders and each other hidden amongst the layers of cultural insights about this sacred place, our pigments and history in these new works. 122 x 91 cms Ochre Pigments on Canvas
