The art of basket making has been with us for many 1000’s of years. Not only are they used practically, but they are also tools with great beauty and cultural power that embodies flexibility and strength. This ancestral knowledge has been pasted down, usually through the women of our family. It requires a high level of knowledge, materials, processes, and designs to make complex objects for a specific purpose. This piece reflects the many fibres used to create our baskets and the women sitting in circle sharing. Size 122 x 122 cms Composition: Ochre earth pigment.
