Acrylics on Canvas. 153 x 76, Beryl's move 35 years ago from South Africa to Australia is where her journey began. In the first of many trips to the outback she fell in love with the richness of the Australian landscape. Early influences included Elisabeth Cummings and Fred Williams and she soon found memories of Africa and a 'sense of place' appearing in her work by way of tribal patterns and marks.
There is no attempt to represent an accurate depiction of a visual reality but instead by using colour, technique and form to create a composition that challenges viewers to form their own interpretation. In 2012 Beryl moved from Sydney and became a Northern Rivers local where she continues to run her business as Founding Managing Director of "Artworkshops Australia".
