Muntja Nungurrayi (1930 – 1997) lived most of her life in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. She was an important Tingari elder who passed on her significant traditional knowledge of women's ceremonies and dreamings through her meticulous and charged paintings. Muntja painted scenes of her country often with women walking though country in search of food. Her lands abound in bush foods particularly after summer rains.
