Lae Oldmeadow "Poetry of the Banksia"
Size: 100 x 100 x 14 cms, Oldmeadow makes powerful art totems from natural fibres and ancient bark, some of it up to one thousand years old. A former upholsterer from the Central Queensland town of Emerald, the reclusive Oldmeadow now lives and works in the hills around Nimbin in northern NSW where he has learned the secret language of trees. “The underlying message that trees are giving humans is just to be still. Our lives are so hectic but the tree is solid and stable and so much alive, I find that very poignant.”
