Jade Torres Akamarre inherited all the talent of their famed family predecessors. She is the great granddaughter of Minnie Pwerle and daughter of Fred Torres, a highly respected Australian Aboriginal Art dealer. Jade is 25 years old and one of South Australia’s most prominent, emerging Aboriginal artists. She is part of a dynasty of artistic ancestry; painting is in her blood. Her family includes globally renowned Aboriginal artists Minnie Pwerle, Barbara Weir, Gloria Petyarre and Emily Kame Kngwarreye, and each has played a huge role in her artistic style and the initial success of the 'Pwerle Gallery', founded by Jade in 2015. With the artists being family members and stakeholders in the company, Jade feels family connection is the key factor to Pwerle Gallery’s success. The artists and the community are the priority and a very fair percentage of every sale goes back into the family Utopia Trust. Jade’s vision for Pwerle Gallery is to evolve Aboriginal culture and art awareness.
